Foundation members have assessed the needs of the park and collaborated to develop a list of potential future goals.

Benefiting from a $7,500.00 donation from the Fisher Family, honoring the late Dr. Gordon Fisher, Tygart Lake State Park Foundation was able to secure a matching grant from the WV State Recreation Area Foundation Grant Program. The combined funding provided a $20,000.00 playground for the cabin/camping area of the park. A smaller playground has been built beside Tygart Lake Lodge. Both these playgrounds provide children with safer, larger, creative play areas while visiting Tygart Lake State Park.

There have been single and double picnic table shelters built in the second picnic area. A picnic shelter for groups of 35 or less is near completion in the same picnic area and will be available for the 2007 season.

The Foundation has also been successful in getting an additonal parking lot built for the third picnic area. This lot will accomodate approximately 30 cars for park visitors. The Foundation has applied for a grant that will be used for landscaping around the parking lot.

The retaining wall that has been erected in the marina area has inspired the Foundation with a future project to place cement benches and planting trees in this area. This will provide visitors a place to relax and enjoy the view of the lake and Tygart Dam.

Electricity was added to the large picnic shelter and restrooms in the 2nd picnic area.
